Since graduating college and moving back to a state that has Trader Joe’s I have become a believer . Growing up it was always a running joke with the family how much my grandmother lovvveed TJ’s. I am a now eating crow, you win Ada.
I love TJ’s it is so wonderful in so many ways; it makes cooking for one or two so much easier. Can anyone say two buck chuck? And if that doesn’t convince you maybe my new favorite find will.
My newest obsession are the edamame nuggets; AhhhhMazing. OK here is the scoop they are vegetarian butttt don’t let this scare you away because they are ridiculously delicious. Even my carnivore boyfriend said they were just fine which doesn’t seem like a glowing recommendation but trust me it is from him.

By being a sorority girl in college there was always some excuse to be crafty. Whether it was a philanthropy or just a sisterhood event there was always glitter and glue close at hand. However now that I am in the “working world” I have had withdraws from those spontaneous craft cravings. Pintrest has been one of my outlets for creativity but sometimes looking at artistic things and pinning them that just does not cut it (no pun intended).
So I got a little aggressive and purchased some Annie Sloan chalk paint in Paris grey… highly recommended for only semi crafty people who do not want to get too dirty. My mother had suggested it as she knew that I have a tendency for unfinished projects… I had a console table that would be perfect for my crafting needs it was a bland wood table that I bought off Craigslist for $50 so if I totally destroyed it I wouldn’t be devastated only mildly embarrassed .
Well all in all I think it was a success, not perfect but I think that some of its imperfections make it perfect : )
I have been a fan of modern family for quiet some time now, one of the reasons I love the show so much is because Sofia Vergara is hysterical. I have even been told that she reminds people of me, I would like to think it’s because we both have natural good looks but I know better. Apparently we both have the same talent for messing up common sayings ( her character anyway).
Long story short, yesterday when I was watching gossip girl (guilty pleasure) I watched a Pepsi commercial with Sofia in it. So I figured I should be nice and share it with you all.
As a recent member of the 21 club, I have taken it upon myself to learn more about these exclusive deals that discriminate based on age. I mean who doesn’t love deals?!? It doesn’t help that I am Dutch (the Dutch are known for their thriftiness) or that I am an unpaid intern in college. In the current economy, companies such as Groupon and Living Social are capitalizing on the deal trend that is here to stay.
After checking out some of the top rated happy hours in Seattle, Chicago & Denver it is official; I am a fan of happy hours. Some happy hours are superior based on their outstanding deals and or suburb food. It is important to note that not all happy hours are created equal. My favorites include; Panzano’s, North, kona grill, Palisades, & Mama Melinas just to name a few.
I realize now why happy hours discriminate; because they make all their money off booze. In the end regardless of whether or not I have a happy hour meal or just go out to a restaurant I still spend just about the same… but I still love the idea of getting a great deal, so as far as I am concerned happy hours are worth the 21 year wait.
it’s five O’clock somewhere…
March is a wonderful month, not only does the snow on the ground begin to melt but March Madness takes hold of the country. A time of the year where college basketball fans are glued to the television, online live streams, and ESPN updates on their smart phones in hopes of their team going all the way in an effort to reach the ultimate goal of achieving a perfect bracket. However, as the tournament continues everyone ultimately realizes that their bracket will not reach perfection with the unpredictability of the tournament that keeps us on our toes. In fact the odds of a perfect march madness bracket is 1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775,808. So enjoy March Madness and be sure to bet with your mind and not with your heart (we all love George Mason but they are not going to win it all).
I leave you with one shining moment
Every year the Daniels College of business asks the senior class to evaluate the business program for Bloomberg Businessweek. I received about 5 emails, before I felt obligated to fill out the survey. I don’t know why it took me as long as it did, because normally I love filling out surveys (my marketing major is showing). Regardless I was happy to decrease the unneeded emails that were coming on a daily basis.
I had completely forgot about the survey until yesterday when I was browsing businessweek and stumbled across the rankings. Curious by nature, I immediately read on to see where Daniels stood on the rankings. Drum Roll please!
Daniels is ranked 64 out of all the business schools in the nation. Not too shabby, but no number 1. I just hope number 64 is good enough to get me a job. Fingers and toes are crossed that my investment in Daniels will be profitable!
